The Education Committee, Co-chaired by Bill Eisenbarth and Wilhelmine Fischer,
organizes an educational component to the March Symphony concert
each season. The theme for the March
8, 2008 concert is From the New World.
Through the month of February, musicians from
the CVS will visit third grade music classes in public and parochial
schools in Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls and Altoona. Their instruments
will be explained and demonstrated and lively discussion always
follows. A total of 1,100 third graders will learn more about the
orchestra through these presentations.
Students will receive a voucher
for a free ticket to attend the concert with a paying adult.
Art students also get involved. Students create
art works inspired by selections of symphonic music from the March
concert. The gallery at the State will display a selection of the
student's work from March 3-14, 2008.
The Education Committee
can use volunteers, especially in the months before the March concert,
to help with these projects. If you are interested in being a part
of this program, please contact the Symphony office.
