Attend a Concert
The Chippewa Valley Symphony performs a wide
variety of music each season. Our four season concerts feature several
guest artists, a young artist competition winner, and classical
music presented around a theme. In
addition to the season concerts, the Symphony presents a Pops concert
in the fall and a free concert in February. Visit this link for
the current season calendar.
Most Symphony
concerts are held at The State: Regional Arts Center. The State
is located at 316 Eau Claire Street in downtown Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Tickets are available at the Symphony office by calling 715-832-6366.
Join the Friends of
the Symphony
The Friends of the Symphony are an important group of
people for the CVS. They support the symphony by organizing fund-raising
projects such as the annual Garden Stroll.
They also assist in the office and on other projects.
The dues for the Friends are:
Active Member $10.00 Annually
Sustaining Member $20.00 Annually
Life-Time Member $50.00 One Time
Sponsor
a Musician or a Chair
Is there a particular
woodwind musician you love to watch? Do you admire a person in the
string section and want them to know? Did you play trumpet in your
high school band? To celebrate your connection with a person or
a chair in the orchestra, you may sponsor a musician or a chair.
And it’s easy.
A
musician was sponsored by subscribers for two years, and another
was sponsored by his employer for two years. Another was sponsored
by her family for a time. CVS Board president Ron Keezer and long-time
CVS musician Mary Keezer endowed the principal horn chair through
a CVS Foundation gift.
Those who sponsor will be listed
in all publicized orchestra rosters under the name of the person
or chair being funded. Call the office at 832-6366 to find out how
a sponsorship can happen.
Advertise in the Season
Program
By putting an ad in our program, businesses show the audience they
support the arts. Since our audience members come from all parts
of the Chippewa Valley, they are also patrons of our local businesses.
By advertising in the program, businesses are creating goodwill
marketing and supporting the orchestra at the same time!
One program is printed every season,
so your ad will be viewed by all of our patrons for the entire season--more
than 3,000 people!
The season programs are assembled
during the summer before each season. If you are interested in putting
your business’ ad in next season’s program, please call
the CVS office at 832-6366.
Become a Community Member on a Board Committee
About 20 people serve on the CVS Board of Directors. They
are each required to serve on a Board committee (many serve on two!).
Some committees, such as Education, Artistic Advisory, Marketing,
and Planning & Personnel require additional community members.
Committees generally meet once a month. They determine the future
course of the Symphony by planning for their area of responsibility.
Be a Volunteer
The Chippewa Valley Symphony can usually use volunteers,
especially for its special events. As a volunteer, you could bake
treats for the orchestra’s dress rehearsal, usher at one of
the featured houses for the Christmas Stroll, or stuff envelopes
for the annual fund-raising campaign. You can volunteer for the
events you like.
The Symphony can use talents of all kinds—and it’s not
all work! The benefits of volunteering include mingling with Nobu
and the orchestra musicians, meeting the other volunteers and gaining
free admission to events at which you work. If you would like to
reap the benefits of volunteering, please call the CVS office at
832-6366.
Become a Symphony Intern
Every year, several college students gain valuable work
experience while helping the Symphony. The intern positions are
unpaid, but the experience is invaluable. College students of any
major will learn from the internship, because job duties are determined
on an individual basis with the executive director. You may choose
to help with marketing, public relations, stage preparation, publications,
or any other area you would like to learn more about. The work you
do will depend on your interests.
Become a Symphony Musician
CVS musicians
come from all walks of life. Included in the orchestra are music
teachers from the area, professionals of many vocations, and students.
These musicians come together to enjoy making music.
Chippewa
Valley Symphony holds most auditions in the fall, a few weeks before
rehearsals begin. The orchestra can use additional string players,
and these auditions are open to everyone at any time. Brass and
woodwind auditions are held only when there are openings.
